+ First Reading: Ephesians 1:11-14

11 in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will;

12 to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ:

13 in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation?in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

14 who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of his glory.

1 Rejoice in Yahweh, you righteous!
Praise is fitting for the upright.

2 Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre.
Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.

All his work is done in faithfulness.

5 He loves righteousness and justice.
The earth is full of the loving kindness of Yahweh.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh,
the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.

1 Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, "Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

2 But there is nothing covered up, that will not be revealed, nor hidden, that will not be known.

3 Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

4 "I tell you, my friends, don't be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

5 But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna.*or, HellYes, I tell you, fear him.

6 "Aren't five sparrows sold for two assaria coins†An assarion was a small copper coin worth about an hour's wages for an agricultural laborer.? Not one of them is forgotten by God.

7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
