We hope that today is a good day.

Gospel: Luke 7:36--8:3
7:36 One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat at the table.
37 Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment.
38 Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner."
40 Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you."
He said, "Teacher, say on."
41 "A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
42 When they couldn't pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?"
43 Simon answered, "He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most."
He said to him, "You have judged correctly."
44 Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.
45 You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 You didn't anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."
48 He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
49 Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"
50 He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
8:1 Soon afterwards, he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of God's Kingdom. With him were the twelve,
2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out;
3 and Joanna, the wife of Chuzas, Herod's steward; Susanna; and many others; who served them* from their possessions.
*8:3: TR reads "him" instead of "them"

2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13
7 Nathan said to David, "You are the man. This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.
8 I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things.
9 Why have you despised the LORD's word, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
10 Now therefore the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised me, and have taken Uriah the Hittite's wife to be your wife.'
13 David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD."
Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin. You will not die.

Galatians 2:16, 19-21
16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.
19 For I, through the law, died to the law, that I might live to God.
20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
21 I don't reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"
