Gospel: Mark 6:1-6
1 He went out from there. He came into his own country, and his disciples followed him.
2 When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things?" and, "What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands?
3 Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judah, and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" They were offended at him.
4 Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honour, except in his own country, and amongst his own relatives, and in his own house."
5 He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people, and healed them.
6 He marvelled because of their unbelief.
He went around the villages teaching.

Ezekiel 2:2-5
2 The Spirit entered into me when he spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard him who spoke to me.
3 He said to me, Son of man, I send you to the children of Israel, to a nation of rebels who have rebelled against me. They and their fathers have transgressed against me even to this very day.
4 The children are impudent and stiff-hearted: I am sending you to them; and you shall tell them, Thus says the Lord* the LORD.
5 They, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house), yet shall know that there has been a prophet amongst them.
*2:4: The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai."

2 Corinthians 12:7b-10
7b that I should not be exalted excessively, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.
8 Concerning this thing, I begged the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.
